What Will Irvine Look Like in 10 Years? Climate Leaders Discuss

Councilmember Larry Agran and his Community Development intern team thank each and every one of our attendees at our first meeting of the Irvine Climate Coalition, “Invest in Our Future.” We heard remarkable statements and presentations from myriad climate action groups, including Reform and Sustain, Fridays for Future OC, Stand.earth, Climate Reality OC, and Irvine United Congregational Church’s (IUCC) Green Faith Team.

Councilmember Larry Agran reminded the team assembled of their power and purpose:

“You are all marathon runners fighting an existential problem…and you are also engaged in a sprint today by joining us. We must all be prepared to race as best as we can to ensure future generations of Irvine residents can live in a safe, clean climate.”

Together, residents and organizers alike envisioned a future where Irvine has combatted climate change. We came out of the meeting with the following takeaways:
